a new book deal!
There are some news I have been dying to share, and I’m thrilled I can finally tell you! My next author-illustrator books are officially in the works, and I can’t wait for all of you to dive in with me into Serena’s underwater world!
The crazy thing about this project is that it didn’t start out as an early reader. The story of its creation involves years of hastily written notes app poems, doodles of mermaids in the corners of my middle-school notebooks, made up lore, a whole lyrical picture book manuscript that was ultimately scrapped, and an unexpected chance to re-write the story in a completely different format.
Getting these books sold felt a bit like swimming upstream (like everything in kidlit, really!), but I thank my lucky stars (and my really great agent) that my story landed on Caitlin’s desk, because finding someone who is enthusiastic about your weird little mermaid world is all you can ask for!
